Beware a bit here, all transcoding uses a lot of processing power, not
something that is abundant in a NAS ?

Does one of these qnap's have a real x86 processor especially important
is FPU unit.

I'm doing this transcoding on Linux server built around an 1.2ghz Mini
itx
board (epia ) and i can do this transcoding to one player not two.
I run the OS on an SSD drive ( wonder what the IO speed is such a thing
? )
one transcoded stream eat s approx 70% of my cpu (SOX process) and SC
works good controller is responsive and web ui works.

I think some of higher end Thecus NAS has similar spec as my server.

A key element in a good NAS/low power server implementation is to use
only SB native formats and avoid unnecessary processing.
