I was considering a QNAP 209 NAS; this has a Marvell 5182 500MHz CPU (never heard of it!). Would something like a Tranquil AVA RS3, which has a Intel Atom 230 1.6GHz be a better bet? Am I right in thinking that, if I am streaming 96 kHz / 24 bit FLAC recordings to a Transporter, there will not need to be any transcoding done in the NAS? (I currently have the SB Receiver, hence the original question, but, having been so impressed by the SBR, I am now seriously considering getting a Transporter and relegating the SBR to another room, so would still need to be able to use transcoding when playing to the SBR.)
