First of all: thanks for the answer about the release date. I must also agree with the others that bhaagensen's post is worth reading and taking into consideration.
The question was mostly out of curiosity. I'm almost certainly not going to install 7.4.0/8.0.0 (Which will it be?). Based on the previous experiences with major releases, I will wait a least one subversion before upgrading. Anyway, what I'm really interested in with the upcoming release is if it is more lightlweight than the current because of the new DB-platform. Back when playback on the controller was a nightly-only feature I ran a lot of nightly versions because i couldn't get it to work. Turned out to be a faulty controller. The instability of all those nightlies completely broke my wife's confidence in the system and she stopped using it completely. She's now slowly starting to use it again, and I'm not going to mess up that budding confidence by installing some new release with even the slightest instability. Summa Summarum: Test, test and test. Take the time to write good testcases. They can be reused with each new release. Make the testing a game. Each error found in-house before common release is a success! I also agree that new features should be put behind error-fixing. (except the feature of easily assignment of static IP's to the duet (Which would fix a lot of the users' networking issues)). The product is already feature-rich compared to the competitors. Ok, so the short sum-up didn't get so short anyway...
