Thanks for the real-world data. Without a COMPILATION tag set, it
would be logical to assume that the album should be filed under "Neil
Young", but no software would have any way of knowing it was a
compilation (each of the track artists could just be pseudonyms for Neil
Young for all it knows). It'd be treated like my Richard Thompson album
in example 1. This doesn't present a problem for you because you want
it to display under Neil Young--from your description, it doesn't seem
that relevant to you that it's a compilation.

But if you wanted it to show up under Various Artists AND Neil Young as
well, there's absolutely no way that can happen without a COMPILATION
tag. And, I'm guessing, changes to SqueezeCenter. How to display
albums is very subjective and potentially impossible to code (we've all
been to the record store that files Jethro Tull under T *shudder*). How
to figure out what kind of album you're dealing with from embedded tags,
however, is pretty simple if it's tagged right.

Also, I have to say I have a soft spot for Dinosaur Jr's "Lotta Love"
cover. Not that I can stand to listen to it, but I can appreciate it
from...uh, really far away.
