COMPILATION=0 doesn't set the album as a compilation, and as Mr Sinatra said, it's likely that the album had COMPILATION=1 and you've done a partial rescan (the compilation status seems to stick). You shouldn't be setting COMPILATION=0 in this situation though. I can't remember exactly what happens, but it wouldn't be good. Probably, the album would be split up into several albums, one per artist. SC makes the album a compilation to group the songs onto one album for you. You need an album artist to hold the songs together under a certain name, which is what SC is doing for you as "Various Artists" if you don't specify one.
