As long as they've been recommended to install it they are going to install it independent on how scary the warning looks like.
I'm pretty sure people will continue to use beta versions as long as members on these forums (including Logitech employees) continue to recommend them to try the latest nightly if they have a problem. One way to make the distinction a bit better might be to have "Beta version" and "Alpha version". Where the beta version in this case would be the 7.3.4 nightly and the alpha version would be 7.4.0 nightly. At the moment they are both called nightly releases, so when someone refers to the latest nightly it's easy for a new user to think that they mean the 7.4 nightly (which is the latest) even though the poster might have intended the 7.3.4 nightly (which is the reliable one). Personally, I still think the message on the download page is pretty clear for the 7.4 nightly. If I wanted the device to be reliable things like "some 3rd party plugins will not work with 7.4" and "Please note: builds can be broken every now and then." and "This version is under heavy development." tends to indicate that it's a version I probably shouldn't use if I like reliability. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66791 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
