That was certainly my understanding (the need for a working internet connection on first setup) based on previous discussion and posts. For example, Matt-Wise said, -"_Setup_will_always_require_an_internet_connection_, at least temporarily. This also allows us to make sure a user is running the latest firmware for their device. This is especially important because the firmware installed at the factory is often very old."-[emphasis added]. If a working internet connection is ultimately not needed to play only local files (because you can back out of the connection process and then connect to a local instance of Squeezencenter), then that seems ok to me, so long as it doesn't keep prompting you or trying to connect to MySB and failing to do so because you don't have an internet connection. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)?
