if there are multiple images, can we all not agree that in general,
meaning in the majority of cases, that using the highest resolution
image would likely be the most desired result?  b/c i think thats a
rather obvious and non-controversial assumption to make.

if we can all be reasonable and agree on that, then using the highest
resolution one is not at all "arbitrary" but actually desired and
welcome.

in the unlikely case that sorting via resolution is more cpu intense
than alphabetical is, then the next best attempt to pick the highest
resolution one would be filesize.  most of the time, that would hold
true.
