For the initial scan, couldn't you just hide the iTunes database from SbS by moving the iTunes library location out of My Music or temporarily renaming the folder? I image you could hide MusicIP by doing something similar. In any case, I don't understand why you'd sit through a one hour scan that you don't want to run. Kill the Perl process for the scanner, then delete the cache folder.
