When you get into "Various Artists" (the default name for compilations), the actual album artist name would be displayed. This is because "Various Artists" isn't really an artist name, but a placeholder that means "Compilations go here".

I don't think I'm seeing this. I think I have added COMPILATION=1 to all of my compilation albums, rather than auto-detect compilations as I sometimes load them into iTunes.
