Those are valid observations, but...
- The current system is so nearly useless that it's broken. Trying to
do something as simple as having composers appear _somewhere_ in your
music library is likely to screw up the appearance of album lists.
With a person like André Previn, who was a performing artist, a
conductor, and a prolific composer you end up with a hodgepodge of
albums listed for the man that is virtually worthless.
- IMHO, one of the approaches above would definitely be "better".
Certainly not perfect, and not necessarily even an attempt to appease
classical collectors, but it would be much more useful in practice
than the current attempt to address these contributor roles.
- It should be fairly easy to implement. All of the data is there,
so no changes are needed to the database or library scanning. The two
solutions proposed above wouldn't likely be any more difficult than
what is being done now to support those three prefs.
