I'd like to do a full rescan per media type, that would work excellent
as I believe they are stored in completely separate tables in the
database. It's not that common that I do major changes in both my
photo, video and music files at the same time, usually I'm either going
to want to rescan music or rescan videos or rescan photos but rarely all
of them.
Of course all these scanning discussions are so frustrating, what I
really want to do is to enjoy the music, enjoy the photos and enjoy the
videos and there is no focus on those parts anymore. Most of the time I
am using the system to enjoy the media not performing rescans, but
that's just me.

It took very long in my photo library earlier in the week, felt like it
really did a full rescan, but it's probably something in my setup with
the photos on a network drive that's causing this. I agree that for
music it's usually a very fast operation as long as you haven't changed
a lot of files.
