Only today I had a chance to run my friends LMS form shell.
The server started but stopped again after this:

/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/CPAN/Log/Log4perl/Appender/File.pm

I checked the permission for "/Users/username/Library/Logs/Squeezebox/"
and it was:
system: read & write
staff: special
everyone: special
I changed the the permissions to:
system: read & write
staff: read & write
everyone: read & write
After this the server could start.
Now I did a complete uninstall (including deleting the folder
"/Users/username/Library/Logs/Squeezebox/")
Installed LMS 7.7.4 (official for OS X from "mysqueezebox.com")
Even though the installation program created a new log-folder it was
necessary to modify the permissions as above before the server would
start.
