First, file an RFE with TeXShop to support aliases. Also, it perhaps it may work with a symlink instead of an alias (though I didn't try). > This led to complex overlapping bib files > as I accidentally updated the 'child' versions etc etc. Is it > possible to use Bibdesk to update several at once? is there a > better workflow? What you could do is to use a script hook that is called when the file is saved, and if it is your "master" file save a copy in the other locations (compare the example script in the help/wiki). > 2) also, Bibdesk (which I've dipped into from time to time and > only started using a lot recently) is creating smart folders > based on keywords. These groups do not really exist in the data, they are automatically generated from the existing keywords in the database. You can disable them by choosing "No Field" from the popup at the top of that table (but why would you do that, as they can be very useful? You can also choose another field, like Author or Journal.). And you can also add static and smart groups, which are like iTunes's groups. > 3) what's the deal with the BBEdit auto-complete scripts? are > they still current?
