thanks for the swift anwers! I don't know what a symlink is, so I'll hit google.. or is there another way? another compiler that does follow an alias? i'm editing in BBEdit and use TexShop because it seemed the simplest one. It just acts as a pdf viewer, in effect, for me (no disrepsect to those authors of TeXShop, I'm just a BBEdit diehard and have it heavily customised to my needs). > >>This led to complex overlapping bib files as I accidentally updated >>the 'child' versions etc etc. Is it possible to use Bibdesk to update >>several at once? is there a better workflow? You can disable them by choosing "No >Field" from the popup at the top of that table (but why would you do >that, as they can be very useful? ah! I missed that. perfect, thanks. They are little use to me as i use many many keywords. THe list of automatic groups was just clutter. I can use static groups or custom smart ones for what I need. >You can also choose another field, >like Author or Journal.). Without the auto ones, there's more room so i can explore that now. thanks. i do like BibDesk and appreciate the work that must go into it to make it work - for free! sorry you didn't get awards recently but it seems that you have great respect in the community - harder to measure but very much deserved. cheers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
