Look in the preferences---you can create fields and make them show up by 
default in new records.  Sorry, I am on my phone, I don't have BD on front of 
me, so I can't tell you which pref pane.

Well, I don't think any of the standard BT styles use doi, so it's not a 
default in BD. I think that's right, at least.
