I bought a Cross-Check (The traveller's Check brother, sans couplers) last December and this has to be the most versatile bike I ever rode.
I use it for commuting, shopping, all-around joyrides and even managed to go on a one week self-supported tour and several long weekends with it. It's not a race bike, but it rides swift. It's not a touring bike, but it rides well loaded. It's not a mountain bike, bit gravel roads and fire roads are not a problem. I bought it complete, since I was too lazy to build it up from the frame; yet even the components it comes with are really decent. Nothing High-Tech, nothing superlight; yet functional and still going strong after 1100 miles. Why did I not buy the Traveller's Check? It wasn't available then and I don't fly; but even it's "lesser" brother is easily my most favorite ride ever Michael On 9/22/08 16:17, "ItsFred" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Please do not confuse an S&S coupled bike with a "folding bike" like a > Brompton - Bromptons, Birdies, and their ilk are highly compromised > commuter bikes that can be folded and unfolded in less than a minute. > That's the sort of bike where the wheels stay on.
