I think with saddles, as with most everything else in life....you get what you pay for.  I bought a Selle Italia last summer that I thought was a little pricey but it was worth every penny.....that with some padded shorts works great.

But onto recumbents.....although I have several "diamond frame" bikes that I love to ride.....for long rides I always use my Vision recumbent......I often take it up from Madison to Appleton to visit my family...140 miles (35 of it on the beautiful Wild Goose Trail along the Horicon Marsh).....although I only average about 10 miles per hour....after spending 14 hours in the "saddle" I feel like I've been sitting in a lawn chair all day watching (hearing, smelling) the world go by. (no back pain, no neck pain, and no pain in the rear)

Although they have some slight disadvantages (my mom calls it an "abomination," my brother won't ride with me)...recumbents are truly the most comfortable and efficient human-powered machines I've ever ridden.

But don't take my word for it.  I believe that Budget Bicycle in Madison rents them by the hour, day and even week for those that are curious.....I think they even apply the rental fee to your first purchase.....And the Hostel Shoppe in Stevens Point carries classified ads on their website for those interested in used recumbents....

What you need is a recumbent bike.
