Hi,
The fencing on the portion of the bike path which is blocking access to
Shorewood Bldvd is knocked over. My guess is this is due to cyclists
frustrated with the path closure. This is despite the note from the
police dept. warning them they could be ticketed.
While I certainly don't condone this action, I think it was very
predictable. The main problem is that you closed a road without
a detour sign. By the time a west-bound cyclist reaches the
closed path, they have the option of:
* going the wrong way on a one way street
* backtracking and trying to find an alternate route
* continuing around/over/through the fence.
The latter option is certainly the easiest.
I think if you had put up a detour sign at the road (the one-way street
just east of there, Swarthmore or something, its not signed), this could
have been avoided.
