This is part of the question that Chuck asked:

Would you be willing to pay for this service? 
How much?
Would you be willing to show up at a meeting and push for it?

And to address another person's point, lower State St is desperately in
need of more bike parking. But where are we going to put it?  We will leave
aside for the moment the option of removing all vehicles (buses, cabs,
bikes, deliveries) from the street and making that a pedestrian-only space
- that is sort of a separate discussion.

The restaurants want space for outdoor eating (and I like that too).
People need a place to walk, talk, gather, play the drums, sing, or whatever.
There still need to be space for people to pass.

There isn't alot of space left for bike racks on the sidewalk. A storefront
would probably need to pay for itself. Would you be willing to pay to park
your bike inside, in a secure location?
