Does anyone have any more details about this incident, such as who was involved, how badly the bicyclist was hurt, and whether the driver was arrested or not?

This is exactly the concern I had raised to the city of Madison authorities about the safety problems on the west side street crossings.  They need to install stop signs for the cars at Odana Rd., Glenway St. and Commonwealth Ave., or we will see more of this kind of needless carnage.  How many more bicyclists and pedestrians will have to be injured before the City installs 4-way stops at these intersections?

This afternoon I came across an accident on the SW Commuter Trail, where a cyclist was hit by a car. The cop on the scene told us that the cyclist had proceeded to cross Odana Rd because the first car in a line of cars had stopped. The 2nd car apparently tried to pass the first car and slammed into the cyclist. As we got there, the ambulance was driving away and there was a twisted bike and helmet on the ground.
