Indeed, I hear a similar complaint from folks who expect that bicyclists should not be riding on Willy Street (the fastest and safest way to get to the eastside from the capitol) when there is a bike path 2 blocks away (which is a hotbed for bike-car crashes according to the 2003 crash report http://www.ci.madison.wi.us/trafficEngineering/documents/CrashReport2003 /crashf03.pdf )
Arthur, What happened to the crash reports since 2003? Is there a way to get at the data somehow? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Robin Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 7:51 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Bikies] Bicycle Boulevards (very cool) Just to be difficult, Portland also had six bike deaths in 2007. I think that qualifies for coffin status. I rode extensively in Portland last summer and was not a big fan of their bike schema. If there are bike boulevards two blocks over, but you are going to the record store over here, than pretty much every motorist thinks you are a self-righteous biker and will force you off the road. Yes, that happened to me more than once. We are traffic. _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
