A middle-aged, male cyclist was struck by a car today
in front of Machinery Row Bicycles at approximately
1:00pm.

The cyclist was west bound on the path which runs in
front of the Machinery Row building. As he entered
crossed the turn off which leads to the parking lots
along the lake, a motorist in a grey Volkswagen struck
him on his right side. The motorist, a female likely
in her early 20's, *appeared* to have come from North
Blair, southbound, and was pulling into the turn off
when she struck the cyclist.

The cyclist appeared to have a broken or dislocated
fingers and some cuts and abrasions on his legs but
was conscious and, though shaken, seemed alert. He was
taken to the hospital via ambulance. He was wearing a
helmet.

Police spoke to the motorist, who remained on the
scene following the crash, as well as witnesses, of
which there were at least a few. I am not aware as to
whether or not a citation was issued.
