I've always wondered why the (imho) WONDERFUL "duck bill" rack<http://www.regardingjohn.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/duck-bill-bike-rack.jpg>( http://www.regardingjohn.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/duck-bill-bike-rack.jpg) isn't more common. It supports wheel/frame locking, provides enough clearance for big wheel/fender combos, and most importantly supports bikes even when they're not tightly locked (and this is its advantage over the all-too-common "inverted U" racks, which are littered with fallen bikes).
Are the duck-bill racks disparaged as fence racks? I've heard that they're made at the UW. Has anyone seen another source for them?
