6:00 news mentioned the "crash" a rough paraphrase " a bike run into a
car .... cyclist was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening
injuries....no tickets have been issued"

I looked in the police record and didn't see anything, but that doesn't mean
there isn't a
report. Mitch saw an accident once and couldn't find anything about it, so I
emailed the
police department and got a response, with information, from Joel DeSpain,
their PR
person. The police only make public a small percentage of their reports. -

Actually, _all_ traffic crash reports (alas, the city follows suit to the state
and still
calls them "accident" reports), except those redacted, eventually make it to
the city's
web site. See http://www.cityofmadison.com/police/accidents . But you need to
know a name
of a party to the crash, or an insurance company, or a case number. This was
done to
prevent "ambulance chasers" from simply searching by date, and spamming
everyone involved
in a crash on a particular day. In addition, it can take up to a week or so for
the
reports to end up on this site.
