That one is a pain in the butt. Curious what Lien road heading out of
town toward Fellend is?

What's the grade coming up Seminole Highway south of the beltline?

If you count the surrounding area (ridden by many cyclists in Madison)
my GPS-bike computer registered highest on Timber Lane just south of
Mauer Road, at 21% grade. This is the highest I've seen, including my
riding on Forest Service roads in the North Cascades, OR!

Don't know whether it's the steepest grade in the city, but Old
Sauk Road between Old Middleton and Ozark Trail is about 12%. And
I curse it every day.

Hi!
The city I live in is going through a mobility crisis as the
economy here has resulted in a bumper crop of cars on streets
designed in the early 1900s.
There ARE a lot of bikers but usually those involved in public
policy are leisure/sport bikers and the large mass of
commuters is mostly untapped for their views.
I believe in data being used to determine best solutions for
creating routes. I'd like to know if***anybody can tell
me*what bike route/path/lane/boulevard has the steepest grade
in Madison (what is the grade and street name/numbers so I can
streetview it)?
They say our streets are too steep for people to consider
commuting (and there are some steep places but there are also
ways/routes to deal with that). They also say it gets too hot
here (avg 68ºF-88ºF). I know.....
I'd also like to know if folks have any preferred tools for
measuring/mapping gradient. I've been playing with Google's My
Tracks app but it won't work on my phone - only my tablet:
MyTracks site http://www.google.com/mobile/mytracks/
An example from here (if you click on the end point -lower
right- you can see the data)
