No, I don't know if there are any studies offering "solid scientific evidence" of a safety benefit (and hard to study it if you don't do it), but I think that's an excessively high standard when you consider that the negative impact of using it is darn near ZERO. So to rephrase, "If there is a chance that it might have some benefit, and has no demonstrable negative effects, why NOT have it?"
