The moment that I post a report, it's outdated. Bobolink, Purple Martin and Baltimore Oriole were all observed within hours of my last report. Many species of warblers have arrived this week - Nashville, Magnolia, Black-and-white, Yellow, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Northern Waterthrush. Spotted Sandpiper, Wood Thrush, Hermit Thrush, Mockingbird and Rose-breasted Grosbeak are also back.
No one has reported relocating the Black-backed Woodpecker at Waverly Heights. The Wilson's Phalarope that was reported at the Kincardine Sewage Lagoons on the weekend appears to have moved on as well. Where can you see 20-25 species of warbler in late May? The highlights were Cape May, several blackburnian, parula, black thr. blue and green, a wilson's, magnolia, pine, palm, nashvilles. chestnut sided, etc. There were some I didn't recognize (which can mean anything.) Lots of veerys and lots in the trees. Purple martins are nesting in a house behind the water treatment plant. Kathy Callahan
