Considering that OpenSRS is the fastest growing registrar, I'd say
that they are doing a good job serving the market, and that the
customers think the same.

We can have a company who is in it for the short term, and is
unstable, and quite possibly be at risk for going out of business by
competing over a matter of a dollar or two over transactions, or we
can have a company who is in it for the long term, and balances
stability and price, and has found the right combination.

If you are trying to make a living off of domain registration, then
perhaps you should become an ICANN Accredited registrar, since that is
the only way you can even try to compete on price.

But don't expect decent us to give you decent odds at surviving at
that level of the game.
