I suspect this is the case, but not from a plugin.  I removed all the plugins 
and installed from the site mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

After rebooting I was able to restart QS so something is definitely getting 
wedged.  I suspect something in the file system since I had other processes 
that were responding slowly to file system queries.
