Maybe its the Alzheimer's, but I don't remember either of these
discussions.  I would appreciate a pointer to the discussions.

I too would prefer the inittab approach.  If it is determined (again)
that the script method is safer, then I would like to see both options
in the book with the appropriate discussion of the issue.
