Hi all, I wanted to see if there were any objections to commenting out the JDK source build for now. I'm having doubts as to whether we'll ever see another JRL relesase. I was told by Sun that there would be an Update 4 JRL release, and expected it a couple of weeks ago. Update 5 is out now in binary. The same developers are working on OpenJDK-6, or so I'm told, and they are busy with it.
BLFS will move toward OpenJDK in the when a release is deemed stable and drop the closed releases completely. Come JDK-7, they will use the open code for 'official' releases. The only loss for using the binary over source now, will be Xinerama support as the gcc3 dependency has been eliminated in update 4. If by some miracle we do see an Update 5 JRL release, I can simply update our patchset and uncomment the source build. -- DJ Lucas -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
