RE: TICKET #5022 http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/ticket/5022
Suggested by Wayne, supported by Armin. I am in not enthusiastic. Pierre is reluctant. Other packages are involved: IN THE BOOK: *Midori and Totem* link to libzeitgeist, but apparently this should be zeitgeist. *Gedit*, according to Wayne, "also has zeitgeist as an optional dependency". None is yet fixed. I did update Totem yesterday, but decided to keep the dependencies until this discussion is concluded. NOT IN THE BOOK: rdflib</required> I failed to build this one, either for my fault (ignorance) or because it was necessary to include also in the book: easy_install or pip First one is listed as required in Arch Linux (I think it is and in the documentation of the site. First and second one are listed in the documentation of the package. MISSING IN MY ATTEMPTS: I also wrote "my fault", because using setup.oy, I only could have libraries in /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/rdflib built, and the complete package installs, between others, in /usr/bin and in /usr/lib/python3.4/site-packages/ MORE DEPENDENCIES Arch Linux is already in zeitgeist 0.9.15, python2-rdflib 4.1.2, python-rdflib 4.1.2 (Python3 module), python-setuptools 3.5.1 and python2-setuptools 3.5.1. Other packages listed as required in AL are: python-isodate 0.5.0 and python2-isodate WHAT I AM THINKING It seems that python-setuptools would be necessary in the book. ISTR when Python was updated to 3.4, there were many remarks in the site and package docs that pip would be needed, and I am assuming AL decided for setup-tools. For my particular use, learning sake, and eventual inclusion in the book, I would like to ask, please, Wayne and/or Armin to send here or to the ticket, instructions/dependencies after zeitgeist: rdflib and whatever would be necessary for installing zeitgeist and is not in the book. I would be most thankful, as I spent half a day trying without success. A patch for the book would be perfect, but I am afraid you two do not have time for that, and it would first depend on the conclusions of this thread Although not very enthusiastic, after writing this post: It seems that libzeitgeist is deprecated, so we need to replace by zeitgeist. It seems that many python modules are going to need some tool to get built/installed. Thus, only rdflib would be really a particular necessity for zeitgeist, if we can do it without python-isodate. -- []s, Fernando -- http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
