Which version of xf86-video-intel do you have installed? If it's the one

Yes, I installed the book's version: xf86-video-intel-2.21.15. I
grabbed xf86-video-intel-2.99.911 (March 19) and both fluxbox and xfce
came up fine!
I wonder when they will release a new stable version? waaaay too old is
from Aug 21 2013 or 257 days ago.
