I have no way of knowing what causes this.  Maybe I need to remove
libfb.so, but I don't see this using the other WMs.

Just finished xfce and it came up without any problems.

In my current log, after the line with "This device may have been added...", I have:

and then the termination messages when I shut down. Perhaps I should try fluxbox with a configuration file directing it to use the framebuffer driver. My best guess is to look at the interaction between fluxbox and the intel driver.
