Sorry for the late responce to this but I am having my own issues with
getting this version of gnome to actually boot without the ever so
unhelpful message oops something has gone wrong.

Sorry about that.

I am coming to the conclusion that on this particular computer gnome
only plays well if kde and others are not installed.

Why is that?

I suspect that they are still in a transitional stage and this has
given us a heads up to keep checking as they may well eventually drop
gnome-icon-theme in everything, or may well keep it as it is now.

The only way to actually check this, without trying to wade through the
sometimes inconclusive git and or wiki comments is to check in the
configure.ac file.

But in the 3.14.0 list, only instances of icon and/or theme are:

http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/gnome/core/3.14/3.14.0/sources/adwaita-icon-the
me-3.14.0.tar.xz

http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/gnome/core/3.14/3.14.0/sources/gnome-themes-sta
ndard-3.14.0.tar.xz

So, is it possible that developers have forgotten to update for them in
some package?

I still see references to gnome-icon-theme so know that it is still
required at least for this release.

Where would it be? It is important that everybody be informed.

Thanks.

Hello Fernando,

As for where I found instances of gnome-icon-theme it was by looking in
the configure.ac file and found reference in there.

Those that require the adwaita-icon-theme have had reference to
gnome-icon-theme removed.

Yes, you said it before. But the configure.ac of which particular packages?

I do not generally trust what it posted on wikis as anyone in the
communities have editing access to them when registering. It is only the
configure.ac files that you can actually trust, as these have ben made by
the people who actually code the applications.

I *believe* it was either a premature announcement by gnome, or that some
devisions of the gnome-team have not yet got around to removing all
references to it.

Above, I was not mentioning wikis nor announcement. At

http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/gnome/core/3.14/3.14.0

you have the packages that form version 3.14.0. In previous versions, some packages were repeated at same the version. For example, the icon themes were kept the same for gnome 3.12.{0,1,2} at 3.12.0. Packages not listed in a given version are not supposed to be part of it. This is the case for the icon themes version 3.12.0.

This makes it very confusing for us as end-users to actually know what is
going on.

The announcement lists should really only be made by those who actually
code the applications and really should be accurate.

Again, I am not talking about this.
