Thanks, I still find cmake almost impenetrable (I used to find it
totally impenetrable - I must be weakening).
Now that you have pointed to that, I think I know enough to dig back
and see which is the last kde4 version. I'll also have to make sure
that I remove the installed extra-cmake-modules.
that shouldn't hurt anything for kde4.
I had hoped I could just leave my kde4 scripts to run on this slow
machine, but apparently not. For the moment, I have stopped trying
to build kde4 - hopefully, somebody who still uses it will read this
list and offer guidance.
I'll get to it, hopefully this weekend.

With that guidance, I'll pick it up again. I'm almost looking
forward to seeing different backgrounds on each desktop.
For my main machine, I need to test inkscape before I tag its deps.
After that, I suppose I'll test texlive there - like you, I'm not
especially keen to test my own stuff, but needs must.
