And until now I had NOT noticed this. I have three gtk3 applications that I use fairly frequently (actually, make that four, but I'm not going to kill firefox to see if I can notice the problem there) - audacious - I cannot see the problem, probably because the main window is black gucharmap and evince - for me the black window is extremely short-lived, which is why I had not noticed it before.
