Hi, I have problems running gnome-2.12. When gnome starts there is a message about "gnome settings daemon not running ..." My menues contain just one application even though I installed just about everything. Logging out is not possible, xscreensaver doesn't react.
A long the way I must have missed something, I need some hint where to look. I have added to /etc/profile: export PATH=$PATH:/opt/gnome-2.12/bin export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=$PKG_CONFIG_PATH:/opt/gnome-2.12/lib/pkgconfig export GNOME_LIBCONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib:/opt/gnome-2.12/lib export XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/gnome/xdg I have created a link: cd /etc ln -s gnome/xdg /etc/xdg I made no other deviations from the book ... as far as I know of. How can I find out step by step which program / package / configuration I missed ? I have read and tried several clues from the mailing list. I have installed gnome from an chroot environment if that is important.
