At this point, I've got a few other words for them, none of which are 
appropriate for this (or any other) public forum.  "Kluster + ____" is more 
what I'm thinking than anything. 

On the other side of the fence, RedHat / Fedora is off in its own little 
world; they even have their own shell (if you can call it that), "nash".  
But then they always have had their own way of doing things.

I did.  Nada.  Same w all the udev directories, and everywhere else I could 
think of to look. 

I've actually taken the debian boot process (and the RedHat one) apart piece 
by piece before and single-stepped through it trying to track down something 
else that was messing with one of my device drivers. 

Unfortunately, like anything else I haven't seen in oh, about 6 weeks, I 
don't remember all that much about many of the details; I'm looking back 
over my own notes which is about as painful as I remember that process being 
in the first place.
