(Supplemental)
While looking through /etc/fonts/fonts.conf, I noticed that there are
entries for chars 2002 and 2003:
<int>0x2002</int> <!-- EN SPACE -->
<int>0x2003</int> <!-- EM SPACE -->
The file is growing as new fonts are added, and the files in the conf.d
directory are getting updated too. Yet those characters are still not being
rendered correctly except in gucharmap.
