Possibly.

My impression from your original posting was that you were not
particularly clear about where these missing icons should have
appeared - that was why I said I try to keep icons off my desktop.
As with most things I write on these lists, I try to be specific :
on the desktop, an icon takes space which could be covered by a
window doing something useful.  So, it now appears that you are only
talking about menus.

At the moment, I'm on my netbook which runs whichever version of
xfce was in BLFS-7.6.  In the menus, most options have tiny icons
(e.g. within Settings I have icons for Display and Notifications,
and most of the things after that, but not for Keyboard through to
Network Connections).

On other menus, most things have pictures but a few (notably,
firefox) do not.  To be honest, I do't think the absence of tiny
pictures is important - but I'm anachronistic (I still prefer icewm,
which does not use freedesktop-standard menus).
