If an external hard drive is used for backing up someone's system, how can you access it if your main system crashes? For example, are you able to install windows separately onto the external drive and boot up from the external drive? I have a Dell desktop with XP home. I was told with my old system, that windows is tied to the one computer. Would the external hard drive be recognized as being the same system? thanks Jason ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, October 18, 2007 3:02 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] external and internal hard drives >I use an external for my backups because if my internal dies I can still >get to my data after fixing my problem. > SA&G > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Sharon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 6:59 PM > Subject: [Blind-Computing] external and internal hard drives > > > In what ways is one better than the other for backup? > Sharon > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Joseph Lee > Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 8:50 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Burning data to a disc > > > Hi Chris, > There is a type of program called CD/DVD > Authoring software which allows you to burn > data to a disc.
