Hi Margaret, I have an external hard drive. It measures four inches wide, seven inches deep and one and a half inch high. it sits nicely on top of my tower computer with the AC power supply for it sitting beside it.Mine is actually a Western Digital internal drive placed into a case that you can buy from certain dealers and it contains the electronics to adapt the drive to a USB interface. A friend ordered mine for me so I don't know the name of the outfit where he got the case. But I can find out if you wanted to go that route. It would be much easier to simply buy an external drive already made up but it might be a little costlier.
