Hi Lisa.

Firstly, Openbook will scan with this printer because it's using a twain or
WIA scanner driver. The spooler service only pertains to printing, as far
as I know, so scanning doesn't use it.

Secondly, I'd bet ten to one that your printer drivers are installed and
that the error message you're getting about no drivers is only because the
spooler service isn't running. You need to start the print spooler service.
Go to the control panel and choose administrative tools. From there, choose
services, not to be confused with component services. In services, press
tab once to go to the list of local services and find the print spooler
service. From here you need to do two things.
1. hit the applications key to bring up a context menu, and then choose
start.
2. After that, press alt+enter to go into the properties for that service.
Then tab until you find the startup type combobox, and choose automatic, if
it isn't already chosen. Finally tab to the ok button and activate it.

After all that, you can close services and administrative tools, then
restart your computer. Then you can try to print something. If nothing
prints and you still get that no driver message, go ahead and try installing
drivers. Here's hoping you won't get the same spooler error you got before.

I hope this is helpful to you. Let us know if you have any success or if it
doesn't work for you. Happy printing.

Tony Hernandez

Subject: [Blind-Computing] My printer won't print

Hello everyone,
I have a lexmark printer. It is a printer, copier, and scanner all in one
unit. I haven't printed anything with it in a while, so last night my son
put new ink cartridges in it. He tried to print his paper for school, and
it said the printer driver is not installed would you like to install it
now, and he clicked yes. It wouldn't let us install anything, so below I
have pasted the message we got when we tried to install the driver. The
weird thing is that I can still scan a paper and read it with openbook. I
don't quite understand that. I am using windows XP home addition, and I am
running jaws 8. If anyone has any suggestions for me, or can help me figure
this out I would really appreciate it. Pasted message below.
Take care,
Lisa
