I'm not sure if you have JAWS running from the system tray or as a separate window but here goes.
Use whatever procedure you normally use to get to the JAWS Menus. Go to the utility menu and enter on configuration manager. Once in the default configuration manager, press alt s for the settings menu. Up or down arrow until you find verbosity settings. I haven't looked at this dialog box for a while so I'm not exactly sure what's there; but it's a place to start.
