Not exactly.

The SSD drives I am speaking of are installed in the computer rather than a spinning mechanical drive. other than that they are very similar to any of the cards or USB devices except that they are quite a bit faster.

Could you get the same results of a solid-state drive by installing
linux on a flash drive and then booting off it?

Thanks for the information. When I use my flash drives on computers other

The best example is a flash drive. Solid state meaning no moving parts.

Hi,
What is a solid state drive?

Recently Dale Leavens wrote:
Something which interests me is that I have a solid state drive.
Presumably defragmenting it doesn't result in much by way of
performance improvements but I haven't read anything on the subject.

Does anyone else know?

Thanks.

Yes, it is accessible and it can be used on all platforms.

Here is a free defrab utility that I believe works better than the one
that
comes with Windows. It can be set to run daily, weekly or monthly
automatically.

Hi. I've never done a defrag on my computer, and I suspect I better
start
doing so. I'm wondering, how often should one do it, and how does one do
it? Is it easy to do without sight? I have Windows 7. Thanks.
