Thank you for the feedback. Definitely an odd occurrence. I believe it was 
someone named Marion or Marible which first suggested this solution, and I 
remember thinking, Nah, how could that ever happen? Looks like it can happen 
pretty easily.

He accidentally checked the hidden attribute & didn't have 'show
hidden files & folders' on in folder options >  control panel. We made
a trip into control panel, fixed that, then went to the 'my music'
folder & unchecked the hidden attribute. It was a quick fix & he has
his music back.
