Hi John,
Google and Jaws seem to be an odd couple!
I am using IE8 and Jaws 6.2, on:
www.google.com
and have no problems with focus, edit boxes and buttons.
Also, I don't have Google as a home page, and don't use any of their supposed accessibility features.
Now, if I switch to Jaws 11 or 12, their seems to be a problem.
The above mentioned is why I don't discard older versions of Jaws, the latest isn't always the greatest.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Janie,
There is one other thing to consider. At the top of the google page, there is a button which reads, "Screen Reader users check here to turn off Google Instant." Apparently, there is a special feature on google which tends to
confuse or completely disable screen readers. The next time you're there,
try that out.
In addition, wasn't there supposed to be a special Google page for those
using adaptive technology?
That was a couple of years ago so maybe it was replaced by the check box I
mentioned.

I had similar problems using Jaws 9/10 with XP. The problem started
suddenly and I spent months trying to figure it out. When I removed Avast
and installed MSE, the problem stopped and has never returned. If you use
Google as many times a day as I do, I feel your frustration.
Good luck,
John

I am using Jaws 12 and Windows XP.
I am pulling up the Google Home page and 1 of 3 things happen:
1.
Everything works normally.
2.
Jaws tells me there a are no Edit Boxes on the page, ditto buttons etc.
It does allow me to read the useless page though.
3.
It appears to jaws to be totally blank, although a sighted helper says it

looks normal.

combine this with the recurring problem of loss of focus and my sanity is
being challenged.

Any thoughts?
Niam
