hello
just a quick note to say that I have exactly the same problem as ken.
I wanted a transactions since last statement to be read in p d f
no such luck as nothing happened
all I got was the assistive technology thing that I think ken had as well.
it got to where it said about untagging and that is as far as it went.
I sent a copy to Larry who informed me it read fine for him.
I followed what mike said in the attac to this reply and found nothing
saying start-up and nothing about assistive technology
I did however find something else checked on start up.
can't remember what it said but it was checked
I unchecked it and found everything was either in American or metric
I made changes to these to imperial and British.
then I exited the preferences after selecting ok.
came out of adobe and pressed the adobe shortcut on the desktop
nothing happened
I went back to my documents selected the statement item and pressed enter
although jaws mentioned assistive technology again this time jaws read out
all the transactions
one reason perhaps for it not working is that it was set for windows built
in player
I changed this to windows media player.
like I said I wonder if the media player selection was part or all of the
reason nothing was read out
I could be wrong here though
perhaps someone can clarify that last bit
if I go back to preferences I may be able to identify what that thing at
start up was called.
thank you
Yvonne

Hi Ken,
Before you uninstall Adobe & reinstall it try the following.
1. Go to your Adobe shortcut Icon & press enter. Open the edit menu with
the the Alt + E Keystroke, & arrow up to preferences & press enter.
2. If you don't like to do it from the edit menu, Press control+k in the
main
window of Adobe Reader. Either way, you want to find the General Tab.
3. tab until you find a checkbox called enable protected mode at startup,
and uncheck it.
Then, press yes to continue after the worning.
Then, press OK.
4. Close adobe reader and start it again.
Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Hi Adi;
1 minor step to add to your information is, after pressing Control + K,
for
preferences, arrow down to, General, to find, to enable protected mode at
startup, & uncheck. Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Thanks John,
I was afraid I might have to take those steps, but I thought I'd throw it
out there to see if anybody might have an idea of some kind of "quick
fix".
